16 – 19 Bursary Fund – Financial Support for Students

You may be entitled to financial support whilst in the Sixth Form through the 16-19 Bursary Fund. This Bursary Fund is targeted at young people if they meet the following criteria, being:

• A young person in care or who has recently left local authority care, or

• Is in receipt of income support or Universal Credit in their own name, or

• Is a disabled young people in receipt of both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence payments.

If you meet any of the above criteria you will be able to apply for the Bursary Fund which will be paid in regular instalments over the academic year.

Students who do not meet the above criteria, but qualify for Free School Meals will be eligible for a Discretionary Bursary, also paid through instalments over the academic year.

For both groups of students payment of the bursary will be conditional on students keeping to the terms of a signed “bursary learning agreement “made between the student and the school. One of the key conditions of this learning agreement is that students maintain full attendance at school and that there is no unauthorised absence.
