Part-time Jobs

We realise that for many of you, a part-time job is an essential source of income. However, you must take care to maintain the correct balance between school work and part-time paid work.

Research (TES) found that Working up to 5 hours per week can marginally improve your performance in your course, working more than 5 hours per week will start to adversely affect your grades. Working more that 15 hours per week can affect your grades very badly (using A level grades as an example it can mean dropping from a ‘BBB’ to a ‘CCD’.

It is recommended that if you wish to work, you should limit yourself to either a Saturday job, or a Sunday job, or two evenings per week without a late finish. This level of work should not adversely affect your school work.
