Changing Course

Changing Course

Due to the structure of students choosing 3 subjects, it will not be possible to drop a course. Also, changing courses must be done before the end of September and only with discussion between students, parents and Head of Department of the new subject.

Under no circumstances may you change a course without completing the appropriate form, which is available from Miss Ives in the Sixth Form Office. Such a decision must not be taken lightly and must be discussed with the relevant teachers, your form tutor, and your parents.

BTEC / CamTech / CACHE Students

There have been major changes to the assessment process.

Work handed in on deadline can have the opportunity of one re-submission, i.e. you have ONE chance to upgrade and this must be done within 10 days of your tutor giving you feedback and the work back. If you miss the deadline then you lose the chance to re-submit or upgrade your work.

BTEC have asked your tutors to send them a list of deadlines for sections of work throughout the year. They expect these to be followed and once a deadline has passed BTEC reserve the right to call for your work and to moderate your tutors assessment. If you have not handed in work at this stage then there is a real risk you could fail the assessment criteria – Pass, Merit or Distinction you are working on. BTEC will only make allowances for genuine reasons for a student missing a deadline, and your tutor needs to request this on your behalf. Illness can be a factor, but simply not doing the work is not a reason BTEC will accept.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE ABOVE AND IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT PLEASE SPEAK TO YOUR BTEC TUTORS IMMEDIATELY.
