Founded in 1808 by the Duchess of Northumberland, DCHS has always had one purpose: to open doors.
For over two centuries, we’ve served the young people of Alnwick and its surrounding villages, from the Cheviots to the North Sea - with pride, purpose, and care.

At The Duchess’s Community High School, our mission is simple:

Providing excellent teaching that is consistent, no matter which classroom you are in.
Providing opportunities outside of the classroom for every student to participate in.
Providing high expectations for all students in our school in all facets of school life.
We serve a uniquely Northumbrian community, and we are proud to do so. Through a values-led culture and a commitment to supporting our students to excel, we help students develop the ambition, resilience, character, and confidence to thrive in school and beyond it.
