Year 11 students studying BTEC Engineering had the opportunity to visit a local business last month to gain hands-on experience.

Mr Watson explained, “the BTEC course looks at industrial sectors both locally and further afield. At Hardys, the students are able to see the products that are manufactured and gain a better insight into the way in which a product is developed and made.

“Design & Technology students can all benefit hugely from off-site visits, and learning from a local industry massively helps to put Engineering careers into real contexts. Many of our Engineering students go onto work for local companies as a result of seeing industry in action.”

The students and staff would like to thank Hardys and other local and regional industrialists for their invaluable support.

Any other local businesses or individuals who feel they could offer a similarly beneficial experience to our students are invited to contact Mrs Bush at rosie.bush@dchs-alnwick.uk, who can then put you in touch with the relevant Department.
