‘High School Impresses the Inspectors’

In its Ofsted Inspection, prior to the October Half Term, The Duchess’s Community High School was classed as a good and improving school with outstanding features.

The inspectors were impressed with many aspects of the school most notably the curriculum, the personal development and well being, and the care, guidance, and support. These were all classed as outstanding across the age range. They also said that student make good progress in their studies, understanding their targets and their strengths and weaknesses. Personal development was seen as excellent, students felt safe and confident; and the school had other strengths such as its partnership with parents and links with other schools especially within the Alnwick area.

Maurice Hall, the Headteacher comments – “this is an excellent report that really emphasises how much we have improved over the last few years. It highlights that we recognise the vital importance of communication with everyone who is linked to our school community (students, parents, and other schools in the partnership). It is also interesting to note that the inspection team identifies in the report the strength of feeling in the community about our accommodation and facilities. What has been achieved by everyone in the present circumstances is immense. The question is how much more we could achieve for the good of our young people with the right buildings and resources. A huge thank you to everyone for the hard work that goes into making this school a success.
