Mission Statement

Design and Technology is about providing opportunities for students to develop their capability, combining their designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding in order to create quality products to solve real world problems.

It is a dynamic and engaging subject and we aim to offer the broadest experience that we can. Students learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens.

Students develop an understanding of the impact of Design and Technology on daily life and the wider world. It also provides excellent opportunities for students to develop and apply value judgements of an aesthetic, economic, moral, social, and technical nature both in their own designing and when evaluating the work of others.

Students will develop a range of design and manufacturing skills including CADCAM in range of materials, and to consider sustainability and the impact of technology on society during the design process. We aim to nurture the Designers of the Future.

We also offer a number of Further Enrichment opportunities that students can choose to study in addition to the KS3 Design & Technology course.
