Swift and Easy Access to targeted and specialist services (Student Support) “...a range of specialist health and social care services that children, young people need to access at different times in their lives which support their general wellbeing and their ability to learn.”

The Duchess’s Community High School has developed an effective Student Support Structure which can quickly identify need and put in place effective strategies which make a real difference to our young people.

The multi-agency group structure includes Pastoral staff and professional colleagues from Education Welfare, Childrens Services, Behaviour Support, Primary Mental Health Team. Youth Service, Educational Psychology, Community Police, School Nurse, Connexions.

The school has worked closely with other agencies to develop the Alnwick FACT (Family and Childrens Team) and develop use of CAF (Common Assessment Framework). This “joined up” work is leading to a greater shared understanding and more effective working arrangements. Through the Extended Services Partnership Plan we are examining a range of possibilities which will further support our children at times of greatest need.
