The Media Department

The Media department enjoys consistently good results at GCSE, AS and A Level.

Available from year 10 through to year 13, the Media courses offer a broad mixture of practical and theoretical work which makes this an attractive subject for a wide range of students.?
As part of the study programme, Media Studies students are involved in the annual production “The Alnwickist” newspaper which is circulated within school and cross the local community.

Students who follow this course would be very well prepared for a degree course involving media work!

There are a wide range of careers in the world of the media could be available. Examples of the types of career that might be followed include; journalist, newspaper sub-editor, production assistant. Marketing and advertising companies also need Media graduates.?The communication skills and practical work that are developed can also lead to careers in any area that involves working in a team.

The Media Studies department has simple and straightforward aims:

To develop a range of practical and theoretical skills that will enable our students to understand and enjoy a wide range of media experiences.?To help develop the skills and expertise that will enable our students to be able to choose from a wide range of careers options.
