The ICT Department

The ICT department resides in rooms G14 and D12. The rooms are well equipped and both have a printer and scanner. The department has both digital cameras and camcorders and students are actively encouraged to learn about the operation of modern Technology. The PC’s are of a modern specification and are able to cope with the demands of creative computer work.

The department has two full time specialist ICT Teachers.

During Year 9, Students take part in a variety of project based work which covers the areas of finding things out, making things happen, and increasing breadth of study through the use of ICT.
An online test is given in the summer term although SATS results are at the present, based on the whole years work and assessed by the class Teacher.

During Years 10 and 11, the students study for the Edexcel Dida suite of qualifications. Some students opt for a single award while others, perhaps keen to take up employment in the ICT sector, opt for a Double award. The awards are both graded at an A*-C equivalence.

Students opting to study ICT at AS and A2 level, carry out in-depth analysis of ICT within organisations, learn about Project management and team work, and develop skills in practical application of ICT within “real world” client based scenarios.
